About The Groomery

The Groomery is a local family owned company that opened in downtown Charlotte in May of 2016.

Capri Brown-Dickson is the owner and lead groomer at The Groomery. Capri has been grooming full time since graduating from Michigan School of Canine Cosmetology in the summer of 2011. Capri’s love of animals afforded her the desire and ability to change careers later in life when the company she worked for had to close permanently in early 2011. Every year Capri makes a point to further her education in this industry concerning safe animal handling, current grooming trends, ergonomically correct and the most up to date grooming equipment, along with product safety by attending either in person or online training seminars. In addition to grooming Capri chose in 2017 and 2018 to attended workshops at the PetMassage Training and Research Institute in Toledo Ohio. This training has allowed her to help senior or anxious pets find comfort and ease of movement in difficult times. Currently (January 2022) Capri is studing  to become a certified canine nutritionist.  Capri shares her home with her husband (Rob) and Rage their 1yr (2022) old English Mastiff.  Most days you will find Rage popping his head up over the half door to say hello, he believes he is at work to be the official meeter and greeter.

Lance McClurkin, Capri’s son, came to The Groomery in the fall of 2016. He started with the company just to “help out” the family business. As Lance built relationships with his furry clients and their owners, he realized that he enjoyed his time spent at The Groomery and wanted to learn more. Within a noticeably short period of time Lance taught himself how to groom by watching what Capri was doing. Lance like Capri continues to learn about grooming styles, safe animal handling and grooming equipment through in person and online training seminars. Creative grooming with scissor work and color became a part of The Groomery due to Lance’s interest in this up and coming trend. Currently Lance shares his home with a 5yr old (as of 2020) Great Dane named Bane, a 1yr old (as of 2020) Tortoiseshell cat named Calypso, and a 5yr old (as of 2020) Silver Charcoal Bengal Cat named Aurelia. Most days you can find Bane running around the shop with Lance ready to say hello and be friends with anyone entering the door, both human and canine.

Both Capri and Lance believe giving your pet the gift of regular grooming is essential to keeping their coat and skin healthy. The Groomery uses the highest quality of ecofriendly products to promote your pets’ natural healthy soft coat.

Our salon is conveniently located at 116 E Lovett St Charlotte MI. We offer high-quality pet grooming services ranging from haircuts and nail trimming to ear cleaning and creative grooming at affordable prices.

All pets are handled with love and care by our grooming professionals: Capri and Lance.
